New Creation is committed to being a safe place for all people to worship regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender, age, socioeconomic status or cultural background. We endeavor to be of service to the community through various ministries without bias.

Who We Are

We are a new creation. We spring from many different faith backgrounds and have banded together as brothers and sisters in Christ to forge a new way to gather in worship. Our firm belief in the priesthood of all believers is that all are called to serve, each one with their own talents and God-given capacities.

We come from many different walks of life and backgrounds. We are represented by everyone from toddlers to senior citizens and people of different races, genders, cultural and social backgrounds and of different sexual orientations. We stand side by side as one.

Although New Creation was formed from two former congregations of the Metropolitan Community Church and many of us are members of the GLBT community, we count both gay and straight among our numbers. Our purpose is to gather as a community to celebrate Christ, his teachings, and to fellowship with one another as a Christ-centered community celebrating all of God's people and to exemplify the principles of peace, love, justice and service.

History

New Creation was established on July 1, 2002 when the congregations of Metropolitan Community Church of Asheville and Grace Fellowship MCC of Hendersonville merged in a central location. From the very first worship service, the new family blended so well that newcomers couldn't determine who had been members of each former church! Consideration was now given to which denomination would best fit our values and ministries.

After six months of "doing church" and a lengthy congregational study, New Creation affiliated with ICCC in June of 2003. Several of our members were involved in the founding of ICCC and continue to serve the denomination in various capacities.
